July 2003
Edited by John Anderson, 2003 BOT President
BOARD
OF TRUSTEES NEWS
Vanessa Kolar has been hired as the Administrator of the GWW POA. The Administrative
office has been moved to the Kolar residence along with the POA phone. The
phone number remains 894-0650.
Several people have asked who are the members of the Board of Trustees and
the APC. The BOT members are:
John Anderson, Pres.
Dena Seligman. VP.
Delbert Bassett, Sec.
Gina Crouchet, Treas.
Mike Hopps (resigned)
Mike Hopps resigned at the July meeting. The Board will appoint a replacement
to fulfill Mike’s term at the September meeting.
There have been recent changes in the APC membership. The current members are:
Sabrina Pope
Julie Richards
Charlie Seligman
All meetings of the Board and the APC are open to the homeowners. The dates
and times are posted on the mail station bulletin board. Attend a meeting to
see what is going on in your neighborhood!
The Recreation Area remodeling project is complete! The pavilion, bath room,
grills, tables, added decking and new fence are a welcome addition to our neighborhood.
POA volunteers:
Jerry Stanley, Warren Hayward, Al Vargo, David Crochet, Dena Seligman, and
John Anderson met on July 3rd to put the new picnic tables together for the
4TH of July picnic. THANKS for the help. The BOT would like to ask that everyone
help in maintaining and protecting the common facilities. Treat this area as
you would your own home. Please address any abuse with the persons or parents
and call the Hays County Sheriff about any vandalism. There is still some landscaping
work to be done. Dena Seligman is scheduling a work day and looking for volunteers.
Watch the bulletin board for details.
JULY 4TH PARADE & PICNIC
Gina Crochet did her usual outstanding job in planning the 4th parade and picnic.
A family emergency caused Gina to call up Dena Seligman as pinch hitter. Dena
did a fantastic job in executing Gina’s plans. There was a great group
of volunteers as judges, cooks and cleanup crew. Also, a special THANKS to
Chuck Dixon and the Driftwood Volunteer Fire Dept. for their participation
in the parade. It just would not be a 4th of July parade with out the boys
and girls with their decorated vehicles and costumes.
RESERVING THE RECREATION AREA
The pavilion may be reserved for private use of any POA member that is in good
standing. A call to the POA Administrator and a $60 cleaning deposit are required
for a reservation. The deposit will be returned upon inspection of a clean
facility after the planned use. Details on the use of the facilities are available
from the Administrator.
LOOSE DOGS
Still our biggest neighborhood complaint! However, the process developed by
the APC is working. The Hays County Animal Control has been called to the neighborhood
several times with positive results.
PRIVATE PROPERTY
There have been some issues with people driving motorized vehicles on the power
line utility right of way and on vacant lots. The power line right of way is
a portion of privately owned lots and only the power company has a right of
way for their use. Please respect the rights to the property owners by not
driving on these properties without their specific permission.
INTERESTED IN MAKING IMPROVEMENTS?
The Architectural and Protective Committee (APC) would like to remind you that
the Goldenwood West Property Owners Association requires you to obtain approval
prior to making improvements on your property (see Covenants, Conditions and
Restrictions Article 6, Paragraph 2). These improvements may include, but are
not limited to, home construction, detached garage construction, exterior painting,
storage buildings, fences, decks, garden/landscaping (structures such as landscaping
walls and constructed planter boxes), and exterior lighting. Simply submit
a copy of your site plan with details of proposed improvement (location, color,
materials list, etc.) to the APC.
It is easy to obtain a Request for Approval Application, just call the POA
Administrator at 894-0650. You may mail your completed request to the POA address,
drop it in the white “POA” box at the mail station, or turn it
in at any of the monthly APC meetings. The APC will notify you in writing as
to their decision.
WATER BOARD
The GWW Water Board met at the Pavilion on July 9th. Items discussed were the
installation of a new filtration plant and a possible rate increase. Homeowners
are invited and encouraged to attend the Water Board meetings.

ADVERTISEMENTS
The publishing of a Newsletter was approved by the GWW Board of Trustees with

Anderson has born the cost of the printing supplies. Several people have asked
about advertising in the GWW Newsletter. To help recover some of the cost,
we will charge $15 per year to run a small ad for residents only. We will advertise
at no cost for any local non-profit when requested by a homeowner.
If you are associated with a business that would be beneficial to you neighbors,
