Planned Improvements to Crystal Hills Bridge and Crystal Hills and 1826 Intersection
County Commissioner Karen Ford held a public meeting on December 13, 2010 at the Friendship Creekside Fellowship Church to present plans for intersection improvements on RM 1826 at Crystal Hills Drive. The plans presented include adding a turn lane for southbound traffic turning onto Crystal Hills from 1826, and also adding an acceleration lane for traffic entering 1826 northbound from Crystal Hills. The Crystal Hills roadway will be raised at least 4’ to meet 1826 at a lesser grade to assist motorists exiting Crystal Hills, and the bridge over the low water crossing on Crystal Hills will be replaced with a Con Span type bridge that will allow more water to flow underneath during heavy rain. The large oak trees on either side of the sharp curve coming down the hill will remain and two smaller trees on the left will be removed. A temporary two-lane bridge will be constructed on the downstream side of the current bridge to facilitate a detour during the bridge replacement. The project is expected to begin in summer 2011, with an estimated completion date of summer 2012. Information on the intersection project may be found here.

Commissioner Ford also announced plans to resurface the roads in our subdivision in 2011 and 2012 and work on drainage issues. The work will begin in the back of the neighborhood and move forward to Crystal Hills.

Board Seat Vacancy
The new Board of Trustees will hold its first regular meeting on January 17, 2011 at 7:15 PM at the pavilion. Aleasha Brandon will serve as President, Karen Hayward as Vice President, Mark Ruthenbeck as Secretary and David Jungerman as Treasurer. The Trustees invite any property owner interested in serving on the Board in the position of Member at Large to attend the meeting. The Bylaws allow the Trustees to fill the vacancy until the next election is held at the Annual Meeting in November.

Welcome Committee Volunteers Needed
Thanks to Mindy Russell and Beth Blanchard for their years of service on the Welcome Committee; they would give a quick call or visit to the new property owners moving into our neighborhood. Both have accepted new responsibilities this year and are handing the reigns to another volunteer. This is a kind way to meet new neighbors and extend an arm of friendship and welcome. Last year Beth and Mindy contacted seven new families who moved to the neighborhood, there were many quiet months with no newcomers to welcome and a few months when the committee was active. Please contact the Administrator if you would be interested in helping to continue this service.

Dues Increase in 2011
The Board approved next year’s budget at the November 8, 2010 BOT meeting and dues will increase to $25 per lot per month in 2011. The additional revenue will finance pool service and also upgrades to the pool. This change will be seen in the February statements; because the POA office bills one month in arrears, January 2011 dues will be billed on February 1, 2011.

e-Statement Program
This month, statements and the “Items of Interest” from the POA office are being sent to 71 GWW property owners through e-mail. This service is saving the POA money on paper, ink and postage. To date, the e-Statement Program sends monthly e-mails which include a statement of account, new gate code to the pool and tennis court if changing, monthly Items of Interest if published and any notices or messages from the GWW Board of Trustees and POA office. Please remember to update your e-mail address with the POA office if you move or if your e-mail address changes. To sign up for the e-Statement Program and opt out of regular mail mailings from the POA office, please contact Administrator@GoldenwoodWestPOA.org.

Yard of the Month Holiday Lights
The APC proudly recognizes the many wonderful holiday light displays in our community over the holidays. There were so many to choose from, the APC found it difficult to pick one winner to recognize but did finally choose 17108 Whitetail Run. Congratulations to the Mendoza family along with the other wonderful displays. The APC appreciates all the hard work and pride the neighborhood shows during the holiday season.
